CMS Equipment
How do I borrow a laptop, video camera, mic, etc? (Where is it, how can I get it, from whom, how long?)
The technologist in residence is in charge of the equipment. Feel free to call or email Rik Eberhardt or stop by his office to borrow this equipment. We can loan you the equipment for extended periods but we need to know the length of time and you must return it or notify us if you will be late bringing it back. Please be respectful of your fellow students who also need the equipment.
What gear does CMS actually have?
This list changes all of the time so putting it down here wouldn't make sense. What we do have in general is a large variety of video cameras ranging from small Sony one chips to the newest Panasonic DV100. Flash recorders, mini disc recorders, tripods, headphones, Mini-DV playback units and one really heavy lighting kit... All at your disposal as CMS graduate students. Again, see Rik Eberhardt, our tech in residence when you need to loan this equipment out.
Do I have to supply my own blank media?
We have some blank DVDs and CDRs. Depending on your project you may get them directly from Rik Eberhardt. But our suggestion is that you store your media projects on an external hard drive.
What if something breaks or is stolen?
Please tell us, we won't charge you but we really need to know so we can take care of it.
There is a piece of equipment that I need for my project that CMS does not have.
Speak to your project manager to see if it is equipment that we are considering purchasing. If not, maybe something can be worked out.
