Topic for Fall 2009: Games and Social Change
Students will collaborate in teams to design and prototype games for social change and
civic engagement. The course will be run in parallel with a comparable course at Tufts,
and students from MIT and Tufts will have opportunities to collaborate with each other.
The course will be run as a workshop in which student teams develop their games and
showcase them at a semester-end open house. We will have guest speakers from academia
and industry as well as the non-profit sector and the gaming community. Readings will
explore principals of game design, and the social history of games.
