Class debates the meaning of globalization and explores economic, social and cultural dynamics in various parts of the world. Questions include: have "global" dynamics existed in the past; is the world becoming more homogenous culturally; what is the influence of new technologies; what is capitalism and how is it changing. Subject addresses issues such as: factory labor in Java; tourism in the Amazon; immigration in France; high-tech workers in the US; the film industry in Bombay, India; and baseball in Japan. Enrollment limited.
